About 1- and 2-Part RTV Silicones

Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) silicones are sealants and potting compounds that cure under normal room temperature conditions.

Here are the main characteristics that separate a 1-Part from a 2-Part Silicone.

Main Applications Main Applications

Used as a general adhesive for bonding

Example 1: Use to secure a head liner on your vehicle.

Example 2: Use a non corrosive to give extra support to solder joints on your circuit board.

Example 3: Select the right color and use as a filler to fill in holes on your wall where electrical wiring enters.

Example 4: Select a thermally conductive silicone and use it to secure heat sinks to your chip or other heat generating devices

Use as a potting compound

Example 1: Use a flowable 2-part RTV to encapsulate a circuit board to make it water proof.

Example 2: Use a flowable 2-part RTV to encapsulate a circuit board to make it vibration resistant.

Example 3: Protect you LEDs by encapsulating it with an optically clear 2-part silicone.

Use as a molding compound

Example: Use a flowable 2-part RTV and simply pour it into your mold and remove once cured.
